Who are distance supervised English Certifications for?

Distance supervised English Certifications are for students and professionnals who have no viable option for onsite language certifications where they live, study or work.

Not everybody lives next to an exam centre. And not everybody can afford the time and expense required to get to one. This is where distance supervision becomes invaluable.

What are the pro's and con's of distance supervision?

Pro's

Practical and cost effective if one is not located next to a test centre.

Short timeframe to organise certifications and obtain diplomas, without having to wait for a distant session.

Candidates are in the comfort of their home or office, which they percieve as a pleasant and safe environment.

Con's

Onboarding is longer and more complex, due to the requirements of the supervision software.

Candidate stress might be somewhat higher due to the complex environment.

Strict rules for candidate behaviour during exams have to be complied with 100%. Non compliance will lead to diplomas being withheld.

Is everybody eligible to distance supervision?

No. Restrictions do apply.

Certain editors restrict the rights of candidates to enroll in exams organised outside their country. When this is the case, it will be clearly indicated during the enrolment process, so that candidates do not apply to a session they are not entitled to.

Certain universities and academic institutions have restricted distance supervised exams to certain types of students, like those on Erasmus+ programs, or those doing internships in distant locations. Candidates should find these restrictions out from their universities.

How does distance supervion work?

Every editor has its own systems, which work along similar lines.

1 Exam guidelines are sent to candidates prior to the exam. Supervision software must be installed on exam computers and / or smartphones. Candidates must become acquainted with the specific rules they will need to comply with.

2 Data is collected during exam time from different sources (typically the test taker's webcam, screen, keyboard, microphone and an external smartphone's camera and microphone).

3 Data is analysed both in real time and reviewed after the exam by a combination of artifical intelligence, human proctering and human reviewing. Non compliance with rules and/ or outright suspiscion of fraud will lead to diplomas being withheld and cancelled.

4 Results are sent as a pdf. These results can be verified in the Editor's results service when this exists (QR code, Internet Service, etc.).
